Experienced Mental Health Accreditation Scheme Panel member

Well established Teesside law firm seek an experienced Mental Health Accreditation Scheme panel member, preferably a Solicitor, to join their team and effectively manage the Mental Health and Court of Protection department to cover a period of maternity leave with prospects of remaining at the firm long term.

Duties will include representation at Mental Health Tribunal hearings. You will be expected to assist clients from inception to completion, providing thorough advice and support throughout.

You will also be expected to take over a number of Section 21a appeals in the Court of Protection and also have knowledge of CCMS.

This is an incredibly rare opportunity to work for a medium sized firm who have worked in the area of Mental Health for many years. You will have a high level of responsibility and work alongside Partners of the firm. Non-solicitor applicants with the appropriate panel membership should apply and a part time position may be available.

You will have secretarial support but will be expected to maintain a high level of file management to keep in line with the Legal Aid Agency rules.

You will need:

  • At least 3 years experience handling own caseload of Mental Health matters.
  • It is essential you are a member of the Mental Health Accreditation Scheme.
  • Full knowledge of the Legal Aid Agency rules.
  • You will need excellent IT skills and be able to adapt to using the firms’ dictation and case management system.
