Family Solicitor 1PQE+

Dynamic, forward-thinking law firm based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear are seeking an experienced Family Solicitor or FILEX, minimum 1 years PQE.

You will handle a mixed family law caseload with an emphasis on legal aid based work in respect of care proceedings, Child Arrangements, contact and Domestic violence and assisting clients through the PLO process.

Duties will include:

• Applying for Legal Aid Certificates on behalf clients (public and private law);
• Preparing statements/ applications on behalf of clients (public (C2 & Part 25) and private law (Child Arrangement Orders, Non-Mol/Occupation Orders)
• Undertaking own Advocacy at Magistrate, DJ and CJ level;
• Managing own administration including filing etc.
• Undertaking own billing (CCMS and private).

You will need:

• At least 12 months experience of handling own caseload of the full range of mixed family law matters.
• Experience of legal aid matters preferred.
• Excellent IT skills including Outlook, Word, use of CMS, and Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of accounts – reading and understanding ledgers.
• Be very organized and able to work well under pressure;
• High standards of client care.
• Good attention to detail.
