Senior Commercial Solicitor with 10PQE+ required in Leeds

Senior Commercial Solicitor – Leeds

Ideally 10+ years’ PQE | Excellent Career Progression | Hybrid Working

Our client, an established and growing law firm in Leeds, is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Solicitor to establish and develop a new Commercial department.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior lawyer who would like the autonomy to build a department and shape its future direction. The successful candidate will initially lead the Commercial offering, with plans to grow the team to include another fee earner and two assistants. The role is expected to develop into a formal Head of Department position.

The Role

You will advise business owners and commercial clients on a broad range of commercial matters, taking responsibility for developing the department and building strong, long-term client relationships.

Your work may include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Terms and conditions of business
  • Supply and distribution agreements
  • Agency and consultancy agreements
  • Shareholders’ and partnership agreements
  • Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
  • General commercial advice to business owners

You will also play an important role in developing the firm’s Commercial offering, generating new work and, in time, recruiting and supervising additional team members.

The Candidate

The firm is ideally looking for a Commercial Solicitor with at least 10 years’ PQE or more, although applications from candidates with slightly less experience may be considered.

You should:

  • Have substantial experience of handling commercial matters
  • Be comfortable working independently and developing a new department
  • Have strong client relationship and business development skills
  • Be commercially minded, ambitious and keen to take on a leadership role
  • Have the ability to supervise and develop a team as the department grows

An existing network of contacts or clients would be advantageous, but it is not essential. The firm appreciates that established lawyers are likely to be subject to restrictive covenants and will take a realistic approach.

Benefits

  • Negotiable salary, depending on experience
  • Bonus scheme
  • Genuine opportunity to become Head of Department
  • Scope to build and shape your own team
  • Hybrid working, typically one or two days per week from home
  • Free on-site parking, with additional free street parking nearby
  • Supportive, growing firm with ambitious plans
